The YAM aims to function as a platform for the purpose of encouraging and developing the appreciation, research and navigation of art in broad exploratory forms for expanded community connectivity, interaction and development. This is in an effort to connect people to creativity, knowledge, and ideas on an interdisciplinary auspice. The museum serves both cultural and educational purposes, with the intent to teach, train and be a resource space for learners and researchers and the public. The museum takes on the nature of a learning laboratory as much as it functions as an archive of creative development and cultural influence for interdisciplinary engagement, embracing an ASTEM perspective. It hopes to construct cross-cultural understanding, create cross-professional and interdisciplinary teaching/learning opportunities; strengthen analytical thinking and diverse creativity.
