The Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung (ÄMP) curates, preserves, researches and provides access to an extensive collection of artefacts and written sources that illustrate the cultures of the Nile Valley, from the Neolithic period (about 10,000 BCE) to the end of the Roman Empire.

The Museum also houses a significant archive related to Egyptology and Nubian Studies, alongside a research library in the field. In addition to its permanent display in the Neues Museum, the collection, archive and library are accessible through touring exhibitions, loans, events, conferences, by appointment, and via the online database.
