The Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen (rem) are an independent enterprise of the city of Mannheim. The multi-disciplinary museum houses collections in the fields of archaeology, world cultures, natural history, art and cultural history, theater, photography, ancient Egypt, and antiquity. The rem stand out for their particular strength in profile due to its renowned exhibitions, especially international and interdisciplinary special exhibitions. The rem bring extensive experience in exhibitions, even in smaller spaces and for changing locations. Educational and outreach activities are integral to every exhibition. Furthermore,.the rem are a renowned research institution running the Curt-Engelhorn-Centre of Archaeometry. CEZA is an institute for scientific research that operates nationally and internationally and, at the same time, a service provider in the field of archaeometry. It was founded in 2004 and consists of the laboratory for the material analyses and the Klaus-Tschira-Laboratory for Physical Dating. Additionally, the rem have expertise in addressing colonial contexts, as numerous objects come from formerly colonized regions. The rem have a special interest in direct professional exchange with researchers, curators and museum professionals from the Global South, in order to incorporate the perspectives of various partners from the Global South .with different backgrounds more strongly into their own museum work.
