Amgueddfa Cymru – Museum Wales is a family of seven national museums and one collections centre located across Wales, a devolved nation within the United Kingdom. We hold 5.3 million items in our collections, and our sites are vital community spaces that reach far beyond their location on a map. We aim to inspire everyone we reach through Wales’s story, and we recognize that everyone has something to contribute through our museums, collections and the work we do. Our collection departments include History and Archaeology (including Industry and Historic Buildings), Natural Sciences (botany, geology, zoology) and Art.

The museums and collection centre, which form Amgueddfa Cymru:

  • National Museum Cardiff (Art and Natural Sciences)
  • St Fagans National Museum of History (Social History, Archaeology and Historic Buildings)
  • National Roman Legion Museum (Archaeology)
  • Big Pit National Coal Museum (Industry)
  • National Slate Museum (Industry)
  • National Wool Museum (Industry)
  • National Waterfront Museum (Industry)
  • National Collections Centre

In the last reporting year, we welcomed over 1.3 million visitors to our sites, engaged with over 200,000 school children and young people, and were supported by the work of over 600 volunteers.
