The National Museum of Natural History of Luxembourg (Naturmusée) is Luxembourg’s only natural history museum, founded in 1854 and housed in the former Saint-Jean hospice in the Grund district along the Alzette River. Its mission is to study, document, and help conserve natural heritage; conduct and oversee excavations (including palaeontological and geological work); collect, preserve, research, and share scientific collections and data; imply the public through exhibitions and events; raise awareness of regional nature and conservation; promote scientific culture; manage museum and educational facilities; collaborate with regional and local museums; and work with other organizations and individuals on scientific and educational projects.
