By creating individual homesteads as exhibition spaces, the buildings are furnished in the traditional fashion to double up as a museum and educational resource center. The museum is constructed in traditional architectural fashion and furnished with rare and authentic tangible artifacts such as masks and masquerades, religious and ceremonial artifacts, paintings, initiation, and ceremonial artifacts from all the ethnic groups in the Gambia including intangible heritages such as songs, stories, histories, folktales and performances.
